Tutoring, grades 8 - 12
Lessons are usually 1 to 2 hours long in person, or can be purchased in units of 15 minutes for tutoring over the internet.

TUTOR- SUSAN JENNIFER (JENNY) ROBSON:
I have a B.Sc. in Physics, with Math subsidiary, and have been tutoring in the Cowichan Valley for the last 10 years. I am on the Cowichan School District's approved list of tutors (I am also listed sometimes as Susan, which is my first name). FEES

• INTERNET TUTORING: updated 20th October 2009
  The student will pay for an hour at a time, but can use it up by the minute (with a minimum of 10 minutes each time) as they need help.
  Cost: $20 an hour, paid in advance using PayPal.
  The first 15 minutes of the first session is free while we get things sorted out.
  
  Skype, (which is a free Voice Over Internet program that works like a telephone, but we talk computer to computer instead of phone to phone), has recently introduced a whiteboard, which actually works well, especially compared with the one I was trying to use in MSN Messenger, that I never got working. I can now draw diagrams etc. on the white board on the computer screen as if I were sitting beside the student. I also have a webcam, so that they can see my face when we connect.
  
  We can talk using Skype with a headset with a boom-mic. This is preferable to speakers and computer mic, because it should prevent any echos from occurring. There is also a text chat window. I have a Wacom bamboo writing tablet which enables me to write freehand on the whiteboard for fractions etc. The student does not need to buy one, as they can read out their question as I write it for them on the white board, or they can send it in advance by e-mail.
  
  
• IN PERSON IN YOUBOU NEAR LAKE COWICHAN:
  I tutor in my home in Youbou near Lake Cowichan. The charge is $20 an hour, for each hour. Additional students can come to a tutorial, provided that they are all at the same academic level. It is $20 for the first student plus $10 per hour for each additional student.
  Maximum per tutorial is 4 students.
  
  I will also come to Lake Cowichan, provided that I can be home before dark, as I am having difficulty seeing at night now. The charge will be $30 per hour.
