Winter in BC |
|
Have you ever wondered why our fir trees are nearly 200 feet tall? Let's face it, if it didn't rain, we wouldn't have greenery all around us, all the time. Other places grow weeds on vacant land, we grow trees. Winter in Coastal BC is very mild.....and wet. Some parts are wetter than others. Most of the time the rain clouds pick up water over the Pacific Ocean and travel with their payload over the top of BC. Depending on whether the mountains have made the rain clouds rise and drop their payload before they reach you, or if they wait until they are over your head, makes some areas wetter than others. Notwithstanding, Coastal BC is still a very nice place to be in the winter. Umberellas are cheap, raingear is available everywhere, and one just carries on with life and ignores the rain. Here on the coast we never go down to -30 degrees C or F. The days and nights are mild when we have cloud-cover to keep us warm... and it rains. Then sometimes the wind shifts and blows from the dry interior. The sky clears, we have blue skies and warm sunny days....and the nights get cold and starry because we have lost our cloud-blanket. Such is life in BC in the winter. |
